Marriage of natural parents after birth
15(1)When a child is born to an unmarried mother and the natural parents intermarry before the birth of such child has been registered, registration of such birth shall be made in the same manner as if the parents had been married at the time of the birth of the child.
15(2)Where the birth of a child born to an unmarried mother has been registered and the natural parents subsequently marry each other, the Registrar General shall
(a) where the mother and the father of the child jointly so request in a statutory declaration on a form provided by the Registrar General,
(b) when satisfied by documentary proof of the fact of the marriage, and
(c) upon payment of the prescribed fee,
re-register the birth of the child as if the parents had been married at the time of the birth.
15(3)Upon proof acceptable to the Registrar General that one of the parents is unable to comply with subsection (2), the request referred to in subsection (2) may be made by the other parent.
15(4)Where the birth of the child has been registered pursuant to subsection 9(1) the request referred to in subsection (2) may be made by the child.
15(5)Where the birth of a child has been registered before the marriage of his parents the original registration shall be withdrawn from the registration files and shall be kept in a special register.
