An Act to Amend the
Court Security Act
Assented to May 21, 2014
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1Section 1 of the Court Security Act, chapter C-30.5 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 2008, is amended in the definition “court” by striking out “the Provincial Court” and substituting “the Provincial Court of New Brunswick”.
2Section 5 of the Act is repealed and the following is substituted:
5A court security officer may refuse entry to a court area to any of the following persons and use as much force as is reasonably necessary to prevent that person’s entry:
(a) a person who does not satisfy the court security officer as to his or her identity;
(b) a person who refuses to be screened for weapons;
(c) a person who is carrying or bringing a weapon with him or her; and
(d) a person whom the court security officer reasonably believes may be a threat to the safety of the court area or a person within the court area.
