1Paragraph 7a) of the French version of New Brunswick Regulation 84-187 under the Plumbing Installation and Inspection Act is amended in the portion preceding subparagraph (i) by striking out “une personne qui” and substituting “à une personne qui”.
2Section 8 of the French version of the Regulation is amended by striking out “de présent” and substituting “du présent”.
3Section 13 of the Regulation is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “Subject to subsection (3)” and substituting “Subject to subsection (3) and subsection 14.01(1)”;
(b) in subsection (4) by striking out “unless a plumbing permit has been issued” and substituting “unless a plumbing permit or a special plumbing permit has been issued”.
4The Regulation is amended by adding after section 14 the following:
SPECIAL PLUMBING PERMIT
14.01(1)Before starting work involving the installation, extension, renewal or repair of a series of ten or more plumbing systems, the plumbing contractor performing the work shall obtain a special plumbing permit from the chief plumbing inspector instead of a plumbing permit for each installation as required under subsection 13(1).
14.01(2)The chief plumbing inspector may issue a special plumbing permit for
(a) work done in relation to the connection of water meters;
(b) the installation or replacement of water service pipes or building sewers, including the installation or replacement of backwater valves; or
(c) the replacement of service water heaters.
14.01(3)The special plumbing permit shall not be issued for work in relation to:
(a) a building drain, except in relation to backwater valves;
(b) a branch;
(c) a drainage system; or
(d) a testable backflow prevention device.
14.01(4)The special plumbing permit is valid for a period of one year beginning on the date it is issued.
14.01(5)A plumbing contractor performing the work in relation to a series of at least ten plumbing systems who does not obtain a special plumbing permit before starting the work referred to in subsection (2) shall pay
(a) the fee prescribed in subsection 21(3.1) for a special plumbing permit, and
(b) the fee prescribed in subsection 21(5) for a special inspection of each plumbing installation in respect of which work was done without a special plumbing permit.
5Section 17 of the Regulation is repealed and the following is substituted:
17Any person holding a plumber’s licence, plumbing contractor’s licence, plumbing permit, special plumbing permit or special homeowner’s plumbing permit shall produce such licence or permit when requested to do so by an inspector.
6Section 21 of the Regulation is amended
(a) by adding before subsection (1) the following:
21(0.1)In this section, “overtime” means time worked on a Saturday or holiday and any time worked after 5 p.m. of any day and before 8 a.m. of the following day.
(b) in subsection (1) by striking out “$40” and substituting “$50”;
(c) in subsection (2.1) by striking out “$40” and substituting “$50”;
(d) by repealing subsection (3) and substituting the following:
21(3)The fee for a plumbing permit is $50 plus an additional $20 for each fixture and $30 for each roof drain to be installed under the permit.
(e) by adding after subsection (3) the following:
21(3.1)The fee for a special plumbing permit is $50 plus $11 for each service water heater, water meter, non-testable backflow prevention device or backwater valve to be installed under the permit.
(f) by repealing subsection (4) and substituting the following:
21(4)The fee for a special homeowner’s plumbing permit is $225 plus an additional $20 for each fixture to be installed under the permit.
(g) in subsection (5) by striking out “The fee for a special inspection” and substituting “Subject to subsection (5.1), the fee for a special inspection”;
(h) by adding after subsection (5) the following:
21(5.1)The fee under subsection (5) is $150 per hour or any part of an hour for inspections done during overtime, with a minimum charge of $150.
7This Regulation comes into force on April 1, 2011.
