23Except where a contrary intention appears by the will, where a testator devises
(a)
his land,
(b)
his land in a place mentioned in the will, or in the occupation of a person mentioned in the will,
(c)
land described in a general manner, or
(d)
land described in a manner that would include a leasehold estate if the testator has no freehold estate which could be described in the manner used,
the devise includes the leasehold estates of the testator or any of them to which the description extends, as well as freehold estates.
