Open fires
19(1)No person shall burn or permit the burning of any material in an open fire without obtaining the written permission of the Minister.
19(2)Notwithstanding subsection (1), a person may, without obtaining the written permission of the Minister, burn or permit the burning in an open fire
(a) of wood or wood products, if the sole object of the fire is for recreation or for the practice and instruction of firefighters, or
(b) of any other material approved by the Minister, if the sole object of the fire is for the practice and instruction of firefighters.
19(3)Compliance with subsections (1) and (2) does not relieve any person from complying with any requirement of the Forest Fires Act, any regulation made under it or any by-law of a local government.
