Amount and standards

(1)
An employer shall provide lighting sufficient for the type of work being done considering
(
a
)
the quantity of illumination, and
(
b
)
the quality of illumination, including reflectances, direct glare and reflected glare.

(2)
An employer shall use one of the following ANSI standards, where applicable, to determine the lighting required by subsection (1):
(
a
)
ANSI/IES RP-7 1991, “American National Standard Practice for Industrial Lighting”;
(
b
)
ANSI/IES RP3 - 1988, “Guide for Educational Facilities Lighting”; or
(
c
)
ANSI/IESNA RP-1-1992, “American National Standard Practice for Office Lighting”.

This section does not apply where a firefighter is engaged in structural fire-fighting.
