17For the purposes of registration at a deer registration station,
(a) a person who kills a deer shall
(i) present the deer to the deer registration agent for registration and examination,
(ii) present to the deer registration agent
(A) in the case of an antlerless deer, the class III licence bearing an antlerless deer authorization under which the person killed the deer, or
(B) in the case of an antlered deer, the licence under which the person killed the deer, and
(iii) unless the deer registration station is an office of the Department, pay a sum of  $4 to the deer registration agent, and
(b) a deer registration agent shall
(i) register each deer legally presented for registration and examination,
(ii) ensure that the hunter has affixed the tag associated with their licence in accordance with subsection 14(2),
(iii) record any information required by the Minister,
(iv) issue a true copy of the registration permit to the person who presents the deer for registration,
(v) forward a report to the Minister at the intervals and containing the information required by the Minister, and
(vi) unless the deer registration station is an office of the Department, collect and retain the sum referred to in subparagraph (a)(iii).

(i) in the case of a an antlerless deer, the class III licence issued to that person bearing an antlerless deer authorization under which the person killed the deer, and
(ii) in the case of an antlered deer, the licence under which the person killed the deer, and
(b) a deer registration station agent shall
(i) register each deer legally presented for registration and examination,
(ii) ensure that the hunter has affixed the tag associated with their licence in accordance with subsection 14(2),
(iii) record any information required by the Minister,
(iv) issue a true copy of the registration permit to the person who presents the deer for registration,
(v) forward a report to the Minister at the intervals and containing the information required by the Minister, and
(vi) as soon as circumstances permit after the close of the open season on deer, be paid the sum of one dollar by the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board for each deer registered.

17(1)Every registration station agent shall
(a) register each deer legally presented for registration,
(b) ensure that the tag affixed by the hunter under subsection 14(2) to the deer is affixed properly and, following the removal of the tag, forward it to the Minister when required to do so,
(c) if the person who presented the deer attaches a registration tag to the right foreleg of the deer, ensure that the registration tag is properly attached,
(c.1) if the person who presented the deer does not attach a registration tag to the right foreleg of the deer, attach the registration tag to the right foreleg of each deer,
(d) issue a true copy of the registration permit to the person who presented the deer,
(e) record such information as may be required by the Minister,
(f) forward a report to the Minister at such intervals and containing such information as may be required by the Minister, and
(g) as soon as possible following the close of the open season on deer, be paid the sum of one dollar by the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board for each deer registered.
17(2)No person shall transport a deer to a registration station unless the person who killed the deer accompanies the carcass.
17(3)No person shall sever the head or limbs of a deer from the body of the deer before the deer is registered.
