4.1(1)Notwithstanding section 4, the Minister, if satisfied that it is necessary for the prevention or control of predation of wildlife by coyote, may issue a special coyote control permit to the holder of a valid fur harvester’s licence
(a) to hunt or trap coyote, or
(b) to snare coyote.
4.1(1.1)The Minister shall stipulate on a permit issued under subsection (1) whether the holder may hunt coyote, trap coyote, snare coyote or carry out any combination of these activities under the permit.
4.1(2)A special coyote control permit entitles the holder to carry out the activity or activities stipulated on the permit by the Minister under subsection (1.1) during the specific period of thirty days referred to in paragraph (3)(a).
4.1(3)A permit issued under subsection (1) is valid only
(a) for the specific period of thirty days that is stipulated on the permit by the Minister, which shall be during any time of the year during which the holder of the permit is also the holder of a valid fur harvester’s licence, and
(b) within the specific boundaries or in the specific location within a wildlife management zone that is stipulated on the permit by the Minister.
4.1(4)The holder of a special coyote control permit shall affix the number of the permit to all traps and snares used by the holder under the permit in a manner that is permanent, prominent and clearly legible upon inspection.
4.1(5)No later than fourteen days after the expiration of the specific period during which a special coyote control permit is valid, the holder of the permit shall, in accordance with the directions of the Minister, submit a report respecting the holder’s activities under the licence to the District Ranger Office from which the permit was obtained.
4.1(6)The holder of a special coyote control permit who is hunting coyote, trapping coyote or snaring coyote under the permit shall do so in conformance with the provisions of this section and with all provisions of the Act and the regulations that apply to the holder of a fur harvester’s licence and that are not in conflict with the provisions of this section.
