17(1)No person shall, not being a conservation officer appointed and employed by the Department, disturb any trap or snare other than his own without the consent of the owner of the trap or snare.
17(2)Notwithstanding subsection (1), if a trap or snare is found upon land posted with a sign prohibiting trapping or within three hundred metres of a dwelling, the owner or occupant of the land or dwelling may inform a conservation officer of the circumstances and, with the consent of the conservation officer, may remove and surrender to the conservation officer the trap or snare.
