82-97 - Hatchery Licensing and Hatchery Supply Flock Policy

5(1)The Minister may issue or renew a hatchery licence authorizing the holder
(a) to carry on a hatchery operation in the premises designated in the licence, and
(b) to sell chicks in the Province,
(c) he is satisfied that the hatchery meets with the requirements of and will be operated in accordance with this Regulation, or
(d) the applicant is the holder of a certificate of registration in force with respect to the hatchery which certificate has been issued under the Hatchery Regulations under the Livestock and Livestock Products Act, R.S.C. 1970, c. L-8.
5(2)A licence shall not be granted if the Minister is of the opinion that the hatchery, in respect of which the licence is applied for is not maintained and equipped in accordance with section 11 and cannot be operated in accordance with that section.
5(3)The Minister shall issue a separate hatchery licence and assign a licence number for each of the premises in which a hatchery is to be operated by the applicant.
5(4)A hatcheryman’s licence shall expire on the thirty-first day of December following the date of issue, if the licence has not been previously cancelled or suspended by the Minister for contravention of the Act and this Regulation.
