Definitions
1The following definitions apply in this Act.
“historic site” means an area of historic significance situated on public land or land acquired under this Act for transfer to Canada for development as a national historic site under the Canada National Parks Act (Canada). (lieu historique)
“Minister” means the Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Development. (ministre)
“national park” means an area of public land or land acquired under this Act for transfer to Canada for use as a national park under the Canada National Parks Act (Canada). (parc national)
“public land” means ungranted or reconveyed lands, whether or not any water flows over or covers them, which belong to the Crown in right of the Province. (terres publiques)

Power of Cabinet to acquire land
2The Lieutenant-Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister, may acquire by gift, purchase or expropriation land that is considered suitable by the National and Historic Parks Branch of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (Canada) for development as a national park or historic site.

Expropriation of land
3A land area suitable for development as a site for a national park or historic site is deemed to be a work or enterprise in the public interest within the meaning of the Expropriation Act.

Conveyance of land to Canada
4(1)The Minister, with the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, may transfer the administration and control of public land and lands acquired under this Act to Canada for the purposes of establishing a national park or historic site.
4(2)A transfer of administration and control under subsection (1) includes all mines, minerals, oil and natural gas lying on or under the lands transferred.
4(3)Subject to any claim for compensation under the Expropriation Act, all rights, privileges, powers, obligations or liabilities acquired, accrued, accruing or incurred are cancelled in so far as they affect lands lying within the area conveyed under this section.

Agreements with Canada
5The Minister, with the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, may enter into an agreement with Canada setting out the terms and conditions under which a national park or historic site is to be established.

Administration
6The Minister is responsible for the administration of this Act.
