Combat Sport Act

1New Brunswick Regulation 2014-131 under the Combat Sport Act is amended by adding after section 2 the following: 
Prescribed combat sports
2.1For the purposes of section 2 of the Act, Brazilian jui-jitsu is prescribed as a combat sport.
2Subsection 3(1) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “120 days” and substituting “60 days”.
3The heading “Ninety days before an event” preceding section 5 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “Ninety” and substituting “Thirty”.
4Section 5 of the Regulation is amended
(a) by repealing the portion preceding paragraph (a) and substituting the following: 
5At least 30 days before the date of the event, the holder of an event permit shall provide the Commission with the following documents and information:
(b) in paragraph (c) of the English version by striking out “and” at the end of the paragraph;
(c) in paragraph (d) by striking out the period at the end of the paragraph and substituting a semicolon;
(d) by adding after paragraph (d) the following: 
(e) an emergency plan for the venue where the event will be held;
(f) a security plan that meets the following requirements:
(i) security services for the event shall be provided by a person who holds a security services licence issued under the Private Investigators and Security Services Act; and
(ii) the event shall be staffed by one security guard for every 100 persons expected to attend the event;
(g) the names of the following officials to be present at the event:
(i) the referees;
(ii) the judges; and
(iii) the room supervisors; and
(h) the names of the ringside medical practitioners to be present at the event.
5The heading “Thirty days before an event” preceding section 6 of the Regulation is repealed.
6Section 6 of the Regulation is repealed.
7Subsection 7(2) of the Regulation is amended
(a) in paragraph (a) by striking out “90 days” and substituting “365 days”;
(b) in paragraph (b) by striking out “90 days” and substituting “365 days”;
(c) in paragraph (c) by striking out “90 days” and substituting “180 days”;
(d) in paragraph (d) by striking out “35 years of age” and substituting “40 years of age”.
8Subsection 9(1) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “The holder of an event permit” and substituting “The inspector”.
9Subsection 11(1) of the Regulation is amended  
(a) in paragraph (i) of the English version by striking out “and” at the end of the paragraph;
(b) in paragraph (j) by striking out the period at the end of the paragraph and substituting “; and”;
(c) by adding after paragraph (j) the following:
(k) the results of any medical examinations or tests required by the Commission, including an electrocardiogram.
10Paragraph 15(1)(e) of the Regulation is amended
(a) in subparagraph (v) of the English version by striking out “and” at the end of the subparagraph;
(b) in subparagraph (vi) of the English version by striking out “; and” at the end of the subparagraph and substituting a comma;
(c) by adding after subparagraph (vi) the following:
(vii) the inspector, and
(viii) the members of the Commission; and
11Section 16 of the Regulation is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (9);
(b) by repealing subsection (10);
(c) by repealing subsection (11).
12Subsection 17(1) of the Regulation is amended
(a) in paragraph (a) by striking out “90 days” and substituting “365 days”;
(b) in paragraph (b) by striking out “90 days” and substituting “365 days”;
(c) in paragraph (c) by striking out “90 days” and substituting “180 days”;
(d) in paragraph (d) by striking out “35 years of age” and substituting “40 years of age”.
13Subsection 21(3) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “to the referee” and substituting “to the announcer”.
14Section 23 of the Regulation is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (7) and substituting the following:
23(7)A ringside medical practitioner may require a contestant to undergo a rest period of up to 90 days after an event.
(b) by adding after subsection (7) the following:
23(8)A ringside medical practitioner may require a contestant to undergo medical examination or testing after an event and submit the results to the Commission.
23(9)A ringside medical practitioner shall inform a contestant that his or her contestant’s licence shall be suspended
(a) for the duration of the rest period required by the ringside medical practitioner, and
(b) until the contestant submits to the Commission the results of the medical examinations or tests required by the ringside medical practitioner.
15Section 25 of the Regulation is amended
(a) in subsection (3) by striking out “from the referee” and substituting “from the judges”;
(b) by adding after subsection (3) the following: 
25(4)After the results are announced, the announcer shall provide the bout slips to the inspector.
