1Section 26 of New Brunswick Regulation 85-6 under the Municipalities Act is repealed and the following is substituted:
26(1)The town called The Town of St. Stephen is continued.
26(2)A portion of the local service district of Dennis-Weston, being an area contiguous to The Town of St. Stephen, is annexed to The Town of St. Stephen and the new territorial limits of The Town of St. Stephen are shown on the plan attached as Schedule 26(2).
26(3)The effective date of the annexation is September 1, 2018.
26(4)Assets acquired and liabilities incurred by the Minister in connection with the provision of services by the Minister to the area referred to in subsection (2) before the annexation shall, on the annexation of the area, become assets and liabilities of The Town of St. Stephen.
26(5)The inhabitants of the area shown on the plan attached as Schedule 26(2) continue as The Town of St. Stephen.
26(6)Despite any provision of the Municipalities Act or the Community Funding Act, after September 1, 2018, the Minister shall pay or credit, as the case may be, to The Town of St. Stephen amounts under the Community Funding Act that are owed to or owed to the credit of the region referred to in subsection (2).
2The Regulation is amended by adding the attached Schedule 26(2) in numerical order.
3This Order comes into force on September 1, 2018.
SCHEDULE 26(2)
