1Section 2 of New Brunswick Regulation 84-165 under the Electrical Installation and Inspection Act is amended in the definition “Code”
(a) by striking out the portion preceding paragraph (a) and substituting the following:
“Code” means the CSA Standard C22.1-15, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (Twenty-third Edition), Safety Standard for Electrical Installations, including all errata, with the exception of Rule 6-302(1)(c) and with the following modifications:
(b) by adding after paragraph (b) the following:
(b.1) the following Rule 6-212(3) is added:
6-212(3)Consumer service conductors entering an enclosure used as a service box that is not equipped with a barrier between the line and load side, shall
(a) enter the enclosure as close as practicable to the line side connection point of the main switch or circuit-breaker; and
(b) not come into contact with or cross conductors connected to the load side of the main switch or circuit-breaker.
(b.2) Rule 26.712(e) is replaced by the following:
26-712(e) The receptacles specified in Item (d) shall be located on or above, but not more than 500 mm above a countertop, and shall not be located directly in front of a kitchen sink or on the area of a wall directly behind a kitchen sink except that receptacles shall be permitted to be mounted not more than 300 mm below a countertop when:
(i)installed in barrier-free dwelling units;
(ii)installed on fixed islands and peninsular counters when the requirements of Item (e) cannot be met; and
(iii)receptacles specified in items (i) and (ii) shall not be located below a countertop where the countertop extends more than 150 mm beyond its support base.
2This Regulation comes into force on July 1, 2016.
