1Section 2 of New Brunswick Regulation 84-167 under the Hospital Services Act is amended
(a) by repealing the following definitions:
“Federal Act”;
“medical practitioner”;
“participating province”;
(b) in the definition « résident » of the French version by striking out the period at the end of the definition and substituting a semicolon;
(c) by adding the following definition in alphabetical order:
“midwife” means a midwife as defined in the Midwifery Act;(sage-femme)
2Paragraph 9(1)(b) of the Regulation is amended
(a) in subparagraph (i) by striking out “oral and maxillofacial surgeon or nurse practitioner” and substituting “an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, a nurse practitioner or a midwife”;
(b) in subparagraph (ii) in the portion preceding clause (A) by striking out “oral and maxillofacial surgeon or nurse practitioner” and substituting “an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, a nurse practitioner or a midwife”.
3Subsection 13(3) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “medical practitioner or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon” and substituting “medical practitioner, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or a midwife”.
4 Section 14 of the Regulation is amended
(a) in subsection (1) by striking out “medical practitioner or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon” and substituting “medical practitioner, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or a midwife”;
(b) in subsection (2) by striking out “attending medical practitioner or the attending oral and maxillofacial surgeon” and substituting “attending medical practitioner, the attending oral and maxillofacial surgeon or the attending midwife”;
(c) in subsection (3) by striking out “medical practitioner or oral and maxillofacial surgeon” and “medical practitioner or the oral and maxillofacial surgeon” and substituting “medical practitioner, oral and maxillofacial surgeon or midwife” and “medical practitioner, oral and maxillofacial surgeon or midwife” respectively.
5Subsection 17(1) of the Regulation is amended in the definition “approved hospital facility” by repealing paragraph (a) and substituting the following:
(a) a hospital or facility located in a Canadian province or territory, and
6Schedule 2 of the Regulation is amended in section 1 by striking out “medical practitioner or oral and maxillofacial surgeon” and substituting “medical practitioner, oral and maxillofacial surgeon or midwife”.
