Nursing Homes Act

1Section 2 of New Brunswick Regulation 85-187 under the Nursing Homes Act is amended by adding the following definition in alphabetical order:
“pharmacist” means a person holding a valid pharmacist’s licence under the Pharmacy Act;(pharmacien)
2Section 21 of the Regulation is amended
(a) in paragraph (a) by adding “pharmacist,” after “physician,”;
(b) in paragraph (b) by adding “, pharmacist’s” after “physician’s”;
(c) by repealing paragraph (e) and substituting the following:
(e) no resident keeps or is permitted to keep medication on his or her person or in his or her room unless authorized by the resident’s attending physician, a pharmacist, a nurse practitioner or a nurse under such conditions as he or she may impose;
(d) in paragraph (g) by striking out “by the resident’s attending physician, or a nurse practitioner or nurse” and substituting “by the resident’s attending physician, a pharmacist, a nurse practitioner or a nurse”;
(e) in paragraph (i) by adding “a pharmacist,” after “a physician,”.
