Agreements with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, peace officer status
2(1)With the authorization of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, the Minister may enter into agreements with Canada for the employment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to enforce the law and to assist in the administration of justice within the Province.
2(1.1)With the authorization of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, the Minister may enter into agreements for the employment of persons to serve the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
2(2)Every member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, every member of a police force and every auxiliary police constable appointed under this Act has all the powers, authority, privileges, rights and immunities of a peace officer and constable in and for the Province of New Brunswick, and is
ex officio an inspector under the
Motor Carrier Act, a peace officer under the
Motor Vehicle Act and a conservation officer under the
Fish and Wildlife Act, and each member of and above the rank of corporal may exercise the powers conferred by section 9 of the
Fire Prevention Act.
