Time Definition Act

Application of Act
1(1)Where an expression of time occurs in any statute, Act, enactment, law, Order in Council, rule of court, order, by-law, rule, regulation, deed or other instrument, heretofore or hereafter enacted, executed or made, or where any hour or other period of time is stated either orally or in writing, or any question as to a period of time arises, the time referred to or intended shall, unless it is otherwise specifically stated, be held to be the time reckoned under this Act.
Reckoning of time in relation to Greenwich Mean Time
1(2)Time shall be reckoned as four hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.
Reckoning of time in relation to Greenwich Mean Time
1(3)Notwithstanding subsection (2), in each year during the period between 2 a.m. of the first Sunday in April and 2 a.m. of the last Sunday in October, time shall be reckoned as three hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.
1(4)Notwithstanding subsections (2) and (3), in the year 2007 and in every subsequent year during the period between 2 a.m. of the second Sunday in March and 2 a.m. of the first Sunday in November, time shall be reckoned as three hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.
1(5)Notwithstanding subsections (2), (3) and (4), the Lieutenant-Governor in Council may make regulations prescribing the period during which time shall be reckoned as three hours behind Greenwich Mean Time and the year or years in which such period applies.

Definitions
2Unless it is otherwise specifically stated
“month” where it occurs or is stated as in section 1 means a calendar month; and(mois)
“year” where it occurs or is stated as in section 1 means a calendar year, and shall be equivalent to the expression “Year of our Lord”.(année)
