Under section 114.1 of the
Fish and Wildlife Act
, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Regulation:

This Regulation may be cited as the
Forensic Analysis Regulation

Definitions

The following definitions apply in this Regulation.
“Act”
means the
Fish and Wildlife Act
.
(Loi)
“qualified technician”
means a qualified technician appointed by the Minister under section 114.1 of the Act.
(technicien qualifié)
Things prescribed

Tools or other implements are things prescribed for the purposes of paragraph 114.1(1)(
e
) of the Act.
Procedure to be used

(1)
The procedure to be used by a qualified technician in the analysis or examination of a portion of meat, tissue or body fluid of any species of wildlife or fish shall be one or more of the following:
(
a
)
Mitochondrial DNA Sequencing;
(
b
)
DNA Genotyping; or
(
c
)
Gender Typing of Mammals using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).

(2)
The procedure to be used by a qualified technician in the examination or analysis of a firearm, ammunition or tool or other implement shall be the Comparison Microscopic Analysis.

Repeal

New Brunswick Regulation 84-1 under the Fish and Wildlife Act is repealed.
