Under section 14 of the Smoke-free Places Act, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Regulation:

Citation
1This Regulation may be cited as the General Regulation – Smoke-free Places Act.
Definition of “Act”

2In this Regulation, “Act” means the Smoke-free Places Act.

Signs prohibiting smoking
4(1)A sign prohibiting smoking shall be posted at each entrance to an enclosed public place or indoor workplace and be clearly visible to persons entering.
4(2)A sign prohibiting smoking shall be posted in each public vehicle and be clearly visible to members of the public.
4(2.1)A sign prohibiting smoking shall be posted in each outdoor public place and be clearly visible to members of the public.
4(3)A sign prohibiting smoking shall
(a) be in the form of the international graphic symbol depicted in Schedule A to the Regulation,
(b) include a red circle bisected by a red interdictory stroke,
(c) be printed on a white background, and
(d) be at least 65 mm in diameter.
4(4)A sign prohibiting smoking may contain text consistent with the purpose of the sign.

Signs permitting smoking
5(1)A sign permitting smoking shall be posted at each entrance to a room designated as a smoking room under paragraphs 4(a) or 5(1)(b) of the Act and be clearly visible to persons entering.
5(2)A sign permitting smoking may contain text consistent with the purpose of the sign.

6This Regulation comes into force on October 1, 2004.
