An Act Respecting the
Fisheries Bargaining Act
and the Industrial Relations Act
Assented to December 13, 2023
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
Fisheries Bargaining Act
1Subsection 15(3) of the Fisheries Bargaining Act, chapter F-15.01 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1982, is repealed and the following is substituted:
15(3)If the Board is of the opinion that a fisherman has made application in writing for membership in a fishermen’s organization, the fisherman shall be deemed to be a member or member in good standing of that fishermen’s organization.
Industrial Relations Act
2(1)Subsection 16(3) of the Industrial Relations Act, chapter I-4 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is repealed and the following is substituted:
16(3)If the Board is of the opinion that an employee has made application in writing for membership in a trade union, the employee shall be deemed to be a member or member in good standing of that trade union.
2(2)The Act is amended by adding after section 136 the following:
Telegrams
136.1A legal requirement that a notice or other document be delivered or served by telegram under this Act or the regulations is satisfied by delivering that notice or other document in writing.
Commencement
3This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
