An Act to Amend the
Salvage Dealers Licensing Act
Assented to December 16, 2022
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1The Salvage Dealers Licensing Act, chapter 111 of the Revised Statutes, 2016, is amended by adding after section 11 the following:
Cash payments
11.1(1)In this section, “cash” means bank notes and coins.
11.1(2)A salvage dealer shall not pay cash for salvage referred to in subsection 3(5) of New Brunswick Regulation 84-107 under this Act.
2Section 17 of the Act is amended
(a) in subsection (3) by striking out “section 6 or 8” and substituting “section 6, 8 or 11.1”;
(b) by adding after subsection (3) the following:
17(4)Despite section 51 and subsections 56(2), (3) and (5) of the Provincial Offences Procedure Act, when a person is convicted of an offence under subsection (1), (2) or (3), the minimum fine shall be double the minimum fine specified in that Act for that category of offence.
3This Act or any provision of it comes into force on a day or days to be fixed by proclamation.
