An Act to Repeal the
Statute of Frauds
Assented to May 21, 2014
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
1The Statute of Frauds, chapter S-14 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is repealed.
TRANSITIONAL PROVISION
2Despite section 1, a proceeding commenced before the commencement of this Act shall be disposed of as though the Statute of Frauds had not been repealed.
CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS
Land Titles Act
3Section 17.6 of the Land Titles Act, chapter L-1.1 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1981, is amended by striking out “the Statute of Frauds or.
Landlord and Tenant Act
4Paragraph 50(1)(b) of the Landlord and Tenant Act, chapter L-1 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended by striking out “, notwithstanding any provision of the Statute of Frauds”.
COMMENCEMENT
5This Act comes into force on October 1, 2014.
