Under section 62 of the Financial Administration Act, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the Board, makes the following Regulation:
1This Regulation may be cited as the Fees for Veterinary Services Regulation - Financial Administration Act.
2In this Regulation
“animal” means a mammal, a bird, a reptile, an amphibian or a fish;
“Department” means the Department of Agriculture and Aquaculture;
“veterinarian” means a veterinarian employed by the Province.

3(1)Subject to subsection (3), when a request for a veterinarian’s services for a food-producing or fur-producing animal is received by the Department between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday to Friday, inclusive, the fee for a veterinarian’s services is the sum of
(a) $38.00 for the visit,
(b) $13.50 for each fifteen minute period or portion of a fifteen minute period spent by the veterinarian on the premises,
(c) $30.00 per farm for reproductive ultrasound for bovines, sheep, swine or goats, and
(d) the cost of medication, vaccines, anaesthesia and other materials provided as well as applicable laboratory fees.
3(2)Subject to subsection (4), when a request for a veterinarian’s services for a food-producing or fur-producing animal is received and responded to by the Department
(a) after 4:00 p.m. and before 7:30 a.m. on Monday to Friday, inclusive, or
(b) on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, including Boxing Day,
the fee for a veterinarian’s services is the sum of the fee prescribed in subsection (1) and an overtime fee of $36.00.
3(3)When a request for a veterinarian’s services for a horse or for an animal that is confined in a zoo or wildlife park is received by the Department between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday to Friday, inclusive, the fee for a veterinarian’s services is the sum of
(a) subject to subsection (3.2), $46.00 for the visit,
(b) $28.00 for each fifteen minute period or portion of a fifteen minute period spent by the veterinarian on the premises,
(c) $9.00 per horse for vaccination,
(d) $30.00 per horse for reproductive ultrasound, and
(e) the cost of medication, vaccines, anaesthesia and other materials provided as well as applicable laboratory fees.
3(3.1)Repealed: 2005-16
3(3.2)When a request for a veterinarian’s services is received by the Department in the circumstances set out in subsection (3) and there is more than one owner on the premises who has requested the veterinarian’s services, the fee payable by each owner under paragraph (3)(a) is $23.00.
3(4)When a request for a veterinarian’s services for a horse or for an animal that is confined in a zoo or wildlife park is received and responded to by the Department
(a) after 4:00 p.m. and before 7:30 a.m. on Monday to Friday, inclusive, or
(b) on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday, including Boxing Day,
the fee for a veterinarian’s services is the sum of the fee prescribed in subsection (1) and an overtime fee of $36.00.

(iii)other toxins, for each animal from which a sample or samples are submitted, 50 per cent of the fee charged by the reference laboratory;
 
(i)immunohistochemistry tests, 50 per cent of the fee charged by the reference laboratory;
 
(j)endocrinology and any other tests, the fees charged by the reference laboratory.
5(3)In addition to the fees prescribed in subsections (1) and (2), all laboratory tests and clinic services requiring shipment are subject to the following shipping fees:
(a) in the case of shipment within the Province, the fee is $6.00; and
(b) in the case of shipment outside of the Province, the fee charged by the shipping company.

6(1)Repealed: 2002-16
6(2)The fees prescribed in section 3 apply, with the necessary modifications, to examination, treatment or surgery on any animal at a clinic.
6(3)The fee for hospitalization of an animal is $17.00 per day or any portion of a day.
6(4)The fee for the disposal of any animal other than one submitted for necropsy is $1.70 for each kg of body weight to a maximum of
(a) $600.00 per animal for a non-food-producing or non-fur-producing animal, or
(b) $300.00 per animal for a food-producing or fur-producing animal.
6(5)The fee for dispensing medication is $7.00 per medication.

7(1)Notwithstanding subsections 3(1) and (2), the fee for a veterinarian’s services with respect to the flushing and recovery of bovine embryos is the sum of
(a) $94.00 per hour for the veterinarian’s service, with a minimum charge of $282.00 per visit,
(b) $40.00 per hour for a technical assistant’s service, with a minimum charge of $120.00 per visit, and
(c) the cost of supplies used during the flushing and recovery of the bovine embryos.
7(2)Notwithstanding subsections 3(1) and (2), the fee for a veterinarian’s services for freezing a batch of bovine embryos, which shall include no more than 23 embryos, is $270.00.
7(3)Notwithstanding subsections 3(1) and (2), the fee for a veterinarian’s services for preparing bovine embryos for export is $135.00 per order.

8The fee for a veterinarian’s service for accrediting, for food safety purposes, the animal husbandry management practices of an owner of food-producing animals is the sum of
(a) $38.00 for the visit,
(b) for the time spent by the veterinarian on the owner’s premises, $28.00 for each fifteen minute period or portion of a fifteen minute period, and
(c) the cost of materials used or provided.
