1Section 2 of New Brunswick Regulation 92-84 under the Hospital Act is amended
(a) in the definition “medical staff” by striking out “dental practitioners and midwives” and substituting “dental practitioners, nurse practitioners and midwives”;
(b) in the definition « médecin traitant » of the French version by striking out “désigne un membre du personnel” and substituting “s’entend du membre du personnel médical”;
(c) in the definition « sage-femme traitante » of the French version by striking out the period at the end of the definition and substituting a semicolon;
(d) in the definition “privileges”
(i) in paragraph (c) of the English version by striking out “, or” at the end of the paragraph and substituting a comma;
(ii) by adding after paragraph (c) the following:
(c.1) a nurse practitioner
(i) in the case of a person requiring family medicine care, to admit the person to a hospital facility, to render health care to the patient and to discharge the patient from a hospital facility,
(ii) in the case of an alternative level of care patient, to render health care to the patient and to discharge the patient from a hospital facility, and
(iii) to use the diagnostic services in a hospital facility for the care of a patient, or
(e) by adding the following definitions in alphabetical order:
“alternative level of care patient” means a person who is no longer required to remain as a patient in a hospital facility for medical reasons but who remains a patient in the hospital facility;(patient en attente d’un autre niveau de soins)
“attending nurse practitioner” means a nurse practitioner who is a member of the medical staff and who has principal responsibility for the health care of a patient; (infirmière praticienne traitante)
“family medicine care” means care provided through the family medicine unit of a hospital facility; (soins en médecine familiale)
2Subsection 18(1) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “surgeon or attending midwife” and substituting “surgeon, attending nurse practitioner or attending midwife”.
3Section 38 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “surgeon or attending midwife” and substituting “surgeon, attending nurse practitioner or attending midwife”.
4 Schedule A of the French version of the Regulation is amended by striking out “bucco-dentaire” wherever it appears and substituting “buccal”.
