Prescription Drug Payment Act

1Section 2.1 of New Brunswick Regulation 84-170 under the Prescription Drug Payment Act is amended
(a) by repealing the portion preceding paragraph (a) and substituting the following:
2.1For the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition “beneficiary” in the Act, a beneficiary is a resident who is registered with the Medicare Branch in accordance with the regulations under the Medical Services Payment Act and who is registered with the department
(b) in paragraph a) of the French version, by striking out “tel que défini dans la Loi sur les foyers de soins” and substituting “selon la définition que donne de ces termes la Loi sur les foyers de soins;
(c) by adding after paragraph (b) the following:
(b.1) as an inmate in a correctional institution as defined in the Corrections Act or as a young person in a youth custodial facility as defined in the Custody and Detention of Young Persons Act,
(d) in paragraph (d) by striking out the comma at the end of the paragraph and substituting a period;
(e) by repealing the portion following paragraph (d).
2Section 15 of the Regulation is amended by adding after subsection (3.3) the following:
15(3.4)Despite subsections (1) and (2), a beneficiary who is an inmate in a correctional institution as defined in the Corrections Act or a young person in a youth custodial facility as defined in the Custody and Detention of Young Persons Act is exempt from the payment of the charges under those subsections.
