Plumbing Installation
and Inspection Act

1Section 2 of New Brunswick Regulation 84-187 under the Plumbing Installation and Inspection Act is amended by repealing the definition “Code” and substituting the following:
“Code” means the National Plumbing Code of Canada 2020, as issued by the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes, National Research Council of Canada, and with the changes provided for in section 3, with the exception of articles 2.4.6.5. and 2.6.1.10. of Division B and subsection 2.2.1. of Division C; (Code)
2Section 3 of the Regulation is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (1.1) and substituting the following:
3(1.1)Table 1.3.1.2. in Division B of the Code shall be read with the following standards added to it in alphanumeric order:
(a) CSA Group standard CAN/CSA B64.1.4-11: Vacuum breaker, air space type (ASVB);
(b) CSA Group standard CAN/CSA B64.2.1.1-11: Hose connection dual check vacuum breakers (HCDVB);
(c) CSA Group standard CAN/CSA B64.3.1-11: Dual check valve backflow preventers with atmospheric port for carbonators (DCAPC).
(b) in subsection (1.2) by striking out “is repealed and the following is substituted” and substituting “shall be read as”;
(c) in subsection (1.3) by striking out “is repealed and the following is substituted” and substituting “shall be read as”;
(d) in subsection (1.4) by striking out “is repealed and the following is substituted” and substituting “shall be read as”;
(e) by repealing subsection (1.5) and substituting the following:
3(1.5)Sentence 2.2.10.10.(1) of Division B of the Code shall be read with the following standards added to it in alphanumeric order:
(a) CSA Group standard CAN/CSA B64.1.4: Vacuum breaker, air space type (ASVB);
(b) CSA Group standard CAN/CSA B64.2.1.1: Hose connection dual check vacuum breakers (HCDVB);
(c) CSA Group standard CAN/CSA B64.3.1: Dual check valve backflow preventers with atmospheric port for carbonators (DCAPC).
(f) in subsection (5) of the French version in the portion preceding paragraph a) by striking out “Division” and substituting “division”;
(g) in subsection (5.1) by striking out “is amended by adding” and substituting “shall be read as adding”;
(h) in subsection (5.2) by striking out “is amended by adding” and substituting “shall be read with the following added in numerical order”.
3This Regulation comes into force on May 1, 2025.
