1Section 17.1 of New Brunswick Regulation 2010-112 under the Personal Health Information Privacy and Access Act is amended by adding after subsection (1) the following:
17.1(1.1)For the purposes of subsection 48(1.2) of the Act, a public body may collect and use an individual’s Medicare number for the purposes of identifying and verifying the identity of an individual in the health care system.
