Police officer’s authority to stop
310.002(1)In this section and in section 310.0021 “police officer” means
(a) a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or
(b) a police officer appointed under section 10, 11 or 17.3 of the Police Act.
310.002(2)A police officer may require the driver of a vehicle to stop for the purpose of determining whether or not there is evidence to justify making a demand under subsection 320.27(1) or section 320.28 of the Criminal Code (Canada).
310.002(3)A police officer who has in his or her possession an approved screening device may require the driver of a vehicle to stop for the purpose of making a demand under section 320.27(2) of the Criminal Code (Canada).
