Offences respecting plates and registration certificates
288(1)Any owner or driver whose motor vehicle privilege has been suspended, as herein provided or whose policy of insurance or surety bond has been cancelled or terminated as herein provided, or who neglects to furnish additional proof of financial responsibility upon request of the Registrar, as herein provided, shall immediately return to the Registrar his licence, certificate or certificates of registration and all registration plates issued thereunder.
288(2)If any person fails to return his licence, certificate of registration or registration plates as provided herein, the Registrar may direct any peace officer to secure possession thereof and return the same to the office of the Registrar.
288(3)Any person who fails to return his licence, certificate of registration or registration plates when so required, or who refuses to deliver the same when requested to do so by the peace officer, is guilty of an offence.
288(4)If the registration of a motor vehicle has been suspended under this Part, the motor vehicle shall not be registered in any other name until the Registrar is satisfied that the application for registration in another name is proposed in good faith and not for the purpose, or with the effect, of defeating the purposes of this Part.
