Stopping at railway crossings
182(1)Any person driving a vehicle approaching a railroad grade crossing shall stop such vehicle within fifteen metres, but not less than five metres from the nearest rail of such railroad, when
(a)
a clearly visible electric or mechanical signal device, designed to give warning of the approach of a railroad train, is exhibiting a warning signal,
(b)
a crossing gate is lowered or when a human flagman gives or continues to give a signal of the approach of a railroad train,
(c)
a railroad train approaching within approximately five hundred metres of the highway crossing emits a signal audible from such distance and such railroad train, by reason of its speed or nearness to such crossing, is an immediate hazard, or
(d)
an approaching railroad train is plainly visible and is in hazardous proximity to such crossing
and shall not thereafter cross over the railroad track or tracks until the imminent danger from traffic on the railroad has ceased to exist.
182(2)No person shall drive any vehicle through, around, or under any crossing gate or barrier at a railroad crossing while such gate or barrier is closed or is being opened or closed.
