Flood and Storm Damage Act, 1976
Assented to June 24, 1976
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
Definitions
1In this Act
“flood and storm damage” means damages to property, both public and private, connected with or incidental to the floods and storms within the Province that commenced January 1, 1976 and ended April 15, 1976;(dommages causés par les inondations et les tempêtes)
“Minister” means the Minister of Finance and includes anyone designated by him to act on his behalf.(Ministre)
Administration
2The Minister is charged with the general administration of this Act and may designate persons to act on his behalf.
Financial assistance
3(1)The Minister, with the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, may provide financial assistance in such form and on such terms and conditions as he deems necessary to compensate for flood and storm damages.
3(2)The approval of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council under subsection (1) is sufficient authority for the payment of such approved amounts out of the Consolidated Fund.
Agreements
4The Minister may enter into agreements with Canada or any person respecting flood and storm damage.
Deadline for financial assistance
5No financial assistance may be approved under this Act after September 30, 1977.
