3(1)The survey system for the purposes of the Act shall be presented on a map of a scale of 1:500,000 which is designated as the New Brunswick Standard Oil and Natural Gas Grid Map.

3(2)The New Brunswick Standard Oil and Natural Gas Grid Map shall be as set forth in Schedule A.

3(3)The New Brunswick Standard Oil and Natural Gas Grid Map shall be kept on file in the offices of the Mineral Resources Division, Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development.

4(1)The New Brunswick Standard Oil and Natural Gas Grid Map is divided into grid areas.

4(2)A grid area is bounded on the north and south by successive parallels of latitude which are 0.166 7° or ten minutes apart and on the east and west by successive meridians of longitude which are 0.250 0° or fifteen minutes apart.

4(3)A grid area shall be referred to by either

5(1)A grid area described in section 4 is divided into one hundred sections.

5(2)A section is bounded on the north and south by successive parallels of latitude spaced at one-tenth of the interval between the north and south boundaries of the grid area and on the east and west by successive meridians of longitude spaced at one-tenth of the interval between the east and west boundaries of the grid area, as shown on Schedule B.

5(3)A section shall be identified by the number to which it corresponds as shown on Schedule B.

6(1)A section described in section 5 is divided into sixteen units.

6(2)A unit is bounded on the north and south by successive parallels of latitude spaced at one-quarter of the interval between the north and south boundaries of the section and on the east and west by successive meridians of longitude spaced at one-quarter of the interval between the east and west boundaries of the section, as shown on Schedule C.

6(3)A unit shall be identified by the letter to which it corresponds as shown on Schedule C.

7(2)The area for each grid area set forth in Schedule D is calculated on the basis of the Universal Trans-Mercator plane from the Clarke 1866 Ellipsoid and the area in hectares is determined by dividing the area in acres by 2.4710387.

7(3)The area for each section in a row across a grid area corresponding to a section referred to in paragraph (1)(e) is the same as the area for that section.

7(4)The area of a unit is determined by dividing the area of the section in which it is located by sixteen.
