1Section 4 of New Brunswick Regulation 95-61 under the Family Income Security Act is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (0.1);
(b) in paragraph (11)(b) by striking out “paragraph 8(2)(e), (e.01) or (e.02)” and substituting “paragraph 8(2)(e.01) or (e.02)”;
(c) in subsection (13) by adding after paragraph (a) the following:
(a.1) is determined by the Minister to have a challenge with respect to education, health, housing or social integration that presents a chronic and significant barrier to employment,
(d) by repealing subsection (16) and substituting the following:
4(16)The Minister may establish, as two separate units, two single parents who are living in the same dwelling unit if both parents are eligible for assistance.
(e) by adding after subsection (16) the following:
4(16.1)Despite subsection (16), if one of the single parents becomes ineligible for assistance, the Minister may continue to treat the other single parent as a separate unit for a period of up to three months in total.
2Paragraph 4.1(2)(b) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “paragraph 8(2)(e), (e.01) or (e.02)” and substituting “paragraph 8(2)(e.01) or (e.02)”.
3Section 8 of the Regulation is amended
(a) in subsection (2)
(i) by repealing paragraph (e.01) and substituting the following:
(e.01) subject to subsections (3) and (4.2), wages from part time and full time employment, to a maximum of
(i) $150 monthly for a unit consisting of one person receiving assistance under the Transitional Assistance Program plus 30% of total wages, and
(ii) $200 monthly for a unit consisting of more than one person receiving assistance under the Transitional Assistance Program plus 30% of total wages;
(ii) by repealing paragraph (e.02) and substituting the following:
(e.02) subject to subsections (3) and (4.2), wages from part time and full time employment, to a maximum of
(i) $250 monthly for a unit consisting of one person receiving assistance under the Extended Benefits Program plus 30% of total wages, and
(ii) $300 monthly for a unit consisting of more than one person receiving assistance under the Extended Benefits Program plus 30% of total wages;
(iii) in paragraph (e.2) by striking out “Minister of Training and Employment Development” and substituting “Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour”;
(iv) in paragraph (e.3) by striking out “Minister of Training and Employment Development” and substituting “Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour”;
(b) in subsection (4.2)
(i) in paragraph (a) of the English version by adding “and” at the end of the paragraph;
(ii) in paragraph (b) by striking out the semicolon at the end of the paragraph and substituting a period;
(iii) by repealing paragraph (c);
(iv) by repealing paragraph (d);
(v) by repealing paragraph (e);
(c) by repealing subsection (4.5).
4Section 16 of the Regulation is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (3) and substituting the following:
16(3)Subsection (2) does not apply to a unit if
(a) a person in the unit is blind, deaf or disabled,
(b) the person referred to in paragraph (a) is living in the parental home, and
(c) the mother, the father or both the mother and the father of the person referred to in paragraph (a) are living in the parental home and the total income of the mother, the father or both, as the case may be, does not exceed $50,000 in the calendar year.
(b) by repealing subsection (4) and substituting the following:
16(4)The amount of assistance that may be provided under section 17 to a unit consisting of one person shall not be reduced under subsection (2) by more than $100 if
(a) the person is blind, deaf or disabled,
(b) the person is living in the parental home, and
(c) the mother, the father or both the mother and the father of the person are living in the parental home and the total income of the mother, the father or both, as the case may be, exceeds $50,000 in the calendar year.
(c) by repealing subsection (5) and substituting the following:
16(5)The amount of assistance that may be provided under section 17 to a unit consisting of more than one person shall not be reduced under subsection (2) by more than $150 if
(a) a person in the unit is blind, deaf or disabled,
(b) the person referred to in paragraph (a) is living in the parental home, and
(c) the mother, the father or both the mother and the father of the person referred to in paragraph (a) are living in the parental home and the total income of the mother, the father or both, as the case may be, exceeds $50,000 in the calendar year.
5Section 17 of the Regulation is amended
(a) by repealing subsection (3);
(b) by repealing subsection (4);
(c) in subsection (5)
(i) in the portion preceding paragraph (a) by striking out “subsections (1) to (4)” and substituting “subsections (1) and (2)”;
(ii) in paragraph (a) by striking out “$333” and substituting “$347 and on and after April 1, 2014, $358”;
(iii) in paragraph (b) by striking out “$666” and substituting “$694 and on and after April 1, 2014, $716”;
(iv) in paragraph (c) by striking out “$58” and substituting “$61 and on and after April 1, 2014, $63”;
